Putting my ‘prude-ness’ and apprehension behind me I decided to go, mainly because I wanted to hear one of the other speakers. I must say that I was so surprised by Melissa’s segment and she ended up being my favourite speaker of the night! Her honesty and approach really facilitated an informative and open seminar where everyone felt comfortable. The topics discussed were real life scenarios but weren’t confrontational. I first met Melissa 6 months ago and since then she has addressed the Central Coast Women’s Network luncheon, as well held a workshop at our Parramatta Business Expo, in which the room was packed and we could’ve filled the room twice over. We thought we had damaged our relationship beyond repair Not connected, lots of jealousy and anger, other friends, separate lives, even the location of where we lived was an issue. Feeling isolated and without a life support system for our children – what communication? From this a calmness and understanding made us feel important - value and recognition our different feelings and emotions, made us realise that there was another point of view to some of our preconceived ideas, opened our minds. We saw how our past was still effecting our present, we saw how our efforts had previously been misplaced. With that vicious circle broken, communication resumed, respect, new levels of intimacy not experienced before. Thank you Mel, it would have never happened without you.
